Everest Helicopter Tour we operate and run throughout the year depending upon fine and clear sunny weather of Spring-Summer-Autumn to winter months of November to February.
March to May most of the morning is fine and clear with sunshine but can get cloudy and windy during afternoon time, where the day will be warm but can be cold in the shade without counting the wind chill factor which adds more cold to normal temperatures.
During this time day time from 15 degree to 21 degree Celsius in the sun, morning and late afternoon or evening and in the shade temperatures drops to below minus or just 5-10 degree Celsius.
We do not operate during June to mid September with monsoon wet season when the area will be overcast, and making the flight unsafe for landing as well blocking the views.
October to December as well January and February will pleasant with clear fine days but the sunlight hours are shorter during these months, however excellent views of mountains can be seen all day long on Helicopter flight. But can be cold and freezing in the morning and late afternoon or in the shade away from sunlight with temperatures during day time will be 15- 20 degree Celsius and drops to minus 5 to 10 degree Celsius depending upon the areas of landing.
March to May flowering times on hills from Lukla to Thyangboche Monastery areas, with rhododendron-magnolia in full bloom with other smaller flowers like primroses, violets and Himalayan lilies.
Area around Khumbu:
Khumbu and Everest region from Lukla onward protected by Sagarmatha National Park with an areas of 1,148 sq, kms (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese and Sherpa of Tibetan origin calls as Chomolungma both names means Great Mother).
