The cycling route to Nagarkot exits the valley from the eastern side and heads along a gradually ascending trail. The mountain cycling tour starts early morning to avoid heavy traffic in the valley. By 7 am, you need to hit the road. Then, you head east and head to Sankhu across a leveled road. En route, you can stop at Boudhanath Stupa and pay your respects. Then, continuing from there, you reach Sankhu in about an hour. Then, you cycle past rustic villages and meet friendly locals. This route showcases the Newar culture and traditions and the towns slowly turn into villages. Next, you start to see agricultural fields and rustic houses. Even if you start late or have delays en route, you will reach Nagarkot by late afternoon. Here you enjoy the scenic views and relax. Next morning, you head to the Nagarkot viewpoint and enjoy the views of the Langtang and Jugal ranges. Then, you have breakfast and head back to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur. If you have extra time, you can stop by the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and take a quick tour. There are many attractions around the durbar square including the 55-windowed palace, Nyatapola Temple, and the Golden Gate among others.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Nagarkot via Sankhu | 40 km
After breakfast, you get on your bike and head east of the valley. You cycle to Boudhanath and enjoy the Buddhist heritage. After 2 hours of cycling, you reach Sankhu where you can rest for a while and enjoy the local culture. From there, you cycle through rustic villages and stop at one to have lunch. After resting for a while, you continue to cycle through farmlands and reach Nagarkot by afternoon.
Day 02: Cycling from Nagarkot to Kathmandu | 32 km
In the morning, you can cycle or hike to the Nagarkot viewpoint. From the vantage point, you can enjoy the views of the mountains in the Langtang, Jugal, and Ganesh Himal ranges. After having breakfast, you leave for your hotel and head to Bhaktapur. If you leave early, you can do a quick tour of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. In the durbar square, you can enjoy the Newar culture and traditions. Some of the cultural landmarks in the durbar square are the 55-windowed palace, Nyatapola Temple, Dattatraya Temple, and Bhairabnath Temple among others. Later, you reach your hotel in the afternoon.

Do I need to have advanced skills in cycling?
No, you don’t need to have advanced cycling skills to do this tour. You just need to know the basics of riding a mountain bike. The biking trails are fairly easy and are also suitable for those with families and children. If you are not confident with your cycling skills, we can manage and help you hone your skills before the tour.
Will water be provided, or should I carry my water bottle?
It is recommended to bring your water bottle. It will be economical as well as an eco-friendly option. If you don’t have a water bottle, you easily buy one at the local shops. There are shops and restaurants along the route where you can refill water. So, we recommend you carry your water bottle for the tour.
Can I bring my cycle?
If you are not comfortable with riding other bikes, you can bring your own. If you’re bringing your own, you need to notify our staff before the tour. Our staff will organize the number of bikes accordingly. Please make sure that your bike is in good condition. If you need repair, then we can arrange such services as well.
What do I do in case of accidents on the road?
You do not have to worry about getting into an accident on the road. We ensure that you will have a safe trip and make your safety and wel-being our top priority. If any unfortunate events do happen, we will deal with it together. Our guides will be cycling with you and will guide you across the safest route.
Is insurance covered by the package?
Insurance is not covered by the package. It is not compulsory to have insurance. There are no regulations regarding insurance necessity for participating in mountain biking adventures around the nation. You need to have separate insurance if you want at your own expense.
