Itinerary

Day 1

Reach Colombo Airport in Negombo via respective airlines.

On reaching at Colombo International Airport, received by our guide and representative of Himalaya Holiday Service and transfer to the hotel at Negombo, after refreshment our guide will brief with orientation regarding the tour package of all 3 countries. Afternoon a short walk to browse the fishing village which is one of the famed and highlight of Sri-Lanka, located in the North of Colombo where it exists Dutch built Canal from the past centuries, this area is full of commotion and lively with fishermen riding up and down in their bright colored -painted fishing small trawlers and boats. Around the canal bank observe the local houses and churches and different species of birds like great Kingfishers. After an interesting time return back to hotel for dinner and stroll around the souvenir shops which is around the hotel lanes.

Day 2

Full day tour of Negombo / Pinnawela and Kandy city

Morning after breakfast a drive leads towards the amazing Kandy city on route with a brief visit of the famous elephant stable and as well an orphanage for the elephants at Pinnawela village area which is just 89 k.m away from Colombo city, this orphanage was established around 1975 to shelter the stray wild and wounded elephants. At present 23 baby elephants have took birth in the orphanage. From here retire back to hotel for dinner and rest and by late evening observe the Kandy Esala Perahera festival which takes place annually. The grand event festival of Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon) is called “The EsalaPerahera”. This festival falls in the month of July or August in Kandy, this is a Buddhist festival with dance and splendidly-adorned elephants. The dance consists of fire-dances, whip-dances, Kandyan dances with other folk cultural dances. The elephants are normally decorated with sumptuous garments. This great event completes with a traditional ‘diya-kepeema’. The implication of this great festival is to summon blessings of the gods to provide farmers enough rain to grow their crops, the rites performed carrying the revered Buddha tooth relic in the streets of the city which is done with great pomp and ceremony, the Buddha tooth relic was brought to Sri Lanka or former Ceylon in 310 AD. Although the capital was changed into other area for safety reasons because of the invasions of foreign invaders, the tooth relic was shifted as well and much respected and always in the safekeeping of the king. Eventually in a safe place resting permanently in the hill of Sinhalese capital of Kandy, It lies at “DaladaMaligawa” (Tooth Relic Palace) built in 16th century by king Wimaladharmasuriya. This 3 story building specially made to house the relics. This place with The Sacred Relic still exists and it is the mostly visited place in Sri Lanka. After an interesting and great day back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stop.

Day 3

A Full day tour of Kandy / Peradeniya

Morning after breakfast in the hotel, our guide will take you in an interesting tour with a visit around Kandy city which is one of the finest city of the country, this early morning tour leads to the Temple where it houses Lord Buddha Tooth Relic. The place is known a Dalada Maligawa, here Buddhists from all over the globe pays homage to see and to receive blessing of Lord Buddha sacred tooth relic, here daily religious and traditional rituals are performed by high monks and priests. Within the old Royal Palace houses The ‘Raja Wasala’ and the ‘MagulMaduwa’ that dates back to 1784 Ad with masterpiece wooden craftsmanship in this historical temple. Sri Lanka’s second city is Kandy, a beautiful historical city where great past kings ruled the place for more than 225 years, and then later the British came in 1815 AD. The unique Perahera carnival, a pageant with 100 elephants, is hosted during August month annually. The Kandy City was known as “Senkadagalapura” in the early times, it is listed as World Heritage Site. Kandy located in a triangular shaped valley bounded by mountains and vast sea of tea gardens, which resembles a blanket of green velvet that covers its rolling hills. At present a modern commercial city serving as the centre for Sri Lanka Cultural Capital with its rich heritage. In the hub of the city lie an artificial lake with the temple of the holy tooth relic of the Buddha, the high hill offers a panorama Kandy City this city is famous for shopping Gems and other Jewelry ornaments along with some locally made Handicrafts, Silks and other stuff. Afternoon visit Matale renowned for spices which is the one of the main exports of the country, a tour of spice garden and sample some flavors like cinnamon, ginger, pepper, vanilla, cardamom and so on. From here the tour leads Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya situated about 11 k.m. from Kandy on the road to Colombo, standing high at high at about 500 meters above sea level, covering 150 acres area and it is famous for variety of plants and vegetations, the main attraction is the orchid house with more than 300 species of orchids and a nutmeg grove. This place was established in 1821 AD and it gets an annual rainfall of 85 mm and lately it was highlighted by the Times of America as “One of the Best Kept Secrets of Kandy”. Day 4

Full day tour of Kandy & Nuwara-Eliya

Morning our tour guide will take you on a tour to NuwaraEliya a tea garden and its factory, the drive leads into narrow hill side road by the ravines and over raging streams and finally reaching in the centre of vast tea garden of Sri Lanka, which is located above 2000 m. Here observe the tea plucked by hands in the shade of the high green hills of Pidurutalagala, here tour vegetable plantations, exotic flower gardens, strawberry farms, and then to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens which are the main places of interest. Day 5

Tour of NuwaraEliya / Yala

Morning a short drive to Yala and then check in at the tourist standard hotel in Yala, after a refreshment a Jeep Safari around Yala National Park which covers about 1,259 sq.km. Located in the Islands south east corner, where the north is bordered by elephant sanctuary at Lahugala with glorious views of the sea on the flat sandy beaches with rocky areas, the vegetation with deep jungles, lagoon, waterholes, smaller ponds and an open park land where the wild life roams from wild elephant, deer, tigers to various species of exotic bird life. The main attraction is to view a large herd of elephants around this huge park land, after a wonderful time return back to hotel at Yala.

Day 6

Drive to Galle & Bentota

After a wonderful time in Yala, morning a drive to Benotota with a visit of Galle on route the drive, as it is the “World Heritage Site” it was the early capital of Sri Lanka when Dutch ruled the country, this city bounded by walls stands since last 16th century, it was also a colonial time of the Portuguese in 1587 AD, and Dutch took over in1640 AD and then the British ruled from 1796 AD till it was free around 1947 AD, this town at present proclaim as an archaeological preserve. This town of Galle is renowned for making lace, carved ebony along with precious gem cutting and polishing, on reaching Benotota transfer to tourist standard hotel for overnight stop.

Day 7

Tour of Bentota

Morning at leisure laze on the sandy golden beach or by the hotel pool at leisure, from here a short ride towards the very end of the Golden Mile which is a popular tourist hub of Bentota which is about a mere drive of near 2 hours from the city of , Colombo, Bentota seaside is also popular for wind surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling, here one can take a boat ride to Bentara Ganga island for a short hike to Kosgoda, Hikkaduwa, Unawatunae, After a leisure and enjoyable day retire back to hotel for overnight stop and dinner.

Day 8

From Bentota transfer to Negombo via Colombo city

With last breakfast at Bentota and then get transferred to Negombo on route a brief visit of Colombo a capital and a commercial hub of the country a fascinating city with great contrast with the colonial architecture and modern tall buildings. The main centre is Pettah market area, in the centre of the city is a nest full of activity, traders and payment hawker’s gather to Pettah for the very best trade and bargains. The busy life of Pettah is in bare difference to the Colombo Fort area a mere distance from the tall buildings. This place is a famous spot for Tea auction after a great tour visit Gangarama Buddhist Temple, Wolfendall Kirk, Town Hall, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Zoological Gardens and the new Parliamentary Complex are the main places of interest of Colombo. It is also a shopper’s paradise with lots of shopping mall and complexes with Sri Lankan textile, garments and designer wear. Near to the city is the famous and renown “The Royal Colombo Golf Club” from here one can view the sunset over the horizon beyond Indian Ocean from the hotel while having Ceylon Tea. After sunset Colombo city is alive with nightlife, after a great day return back to hotels at Negombo.

Day 9

Transfer to airport for the flight to Delhi, India

After breakfast, from the hotel, transfer towards country’s international airport for the flight to Delhi at Indian capital, on reaching Delhi airport our staff or representative of Himalaya Holiday Service will meet and transfer to respective hotels after check in our staff and guide will inform with the itineraries days while in India vacation.

Day 10

Full day Delhi Sightseeing tour

Starting with morning breakfast and then meet our local guide for a full day tour around Delhi leading at first at Old Delhi the busiest and crowded area of Delhi, one can take a Rickshaw Ride which is interesting riding along the busy Chadni Chowk alley, tour leads to visit of Jama Masjid, Muslims largest mosques in India. From Old Delhi with interesting time at leisure to explore around New Delhi includes India Gate- an impressive memorial built to honor India’s gallant soldiers, and then visit Rastrapati Bhawan ‘Presidential Palace’, Lotus Temple and the famous Minaret Qutab Minar. Day 11

From Delhi drive to Jaipur distance of 265 km & 5 hrs journey

Morning depart Delhi for an interesting scenic drive to Jaipur area in Rajesthan also known as ‘Pink City’, on reaching in Jaipur transfer to one of the maharaja palace turned into elegant hotels, hotel, afternoon visit Jaipur Bazar which is colorful and exciting.

Day 12

Full day sightseeing of Jaipur

Starting early with breakfast a short drive and hike to Amer Fort with delightful elephant ride around Amer Fort, the great Raja Man Singh a Rajput commander of King Akbar’s army built this fort like palace around 16th century. From here tour of Jaipur Pink City with a visit around number of shops with textile industry and then tour of Jaipur City Palace known as Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) and Jantar Mantar an observatory hall built by Raja Jai Singh. Day 13

Drive to Agra 251 km with 5 hrs journey

Day 16

Full day sightseeing at places of interest in Thimphu

Day 17

Drive to Punakha and return to Thimpu – 07 hrs trips

Morning after an early breakfast depart for Punakha area the drive leads over the high Dochula pass at3,100 m, the top offers wonderful views of the great snow capped peaks of North East Himalaya range, the drive leads with a brief visit to the temple of godly madman, also called as the temple of fertility, an interesting area where one can take a short walk around the country villages with rice paddy fields, on reaching at Punakha which was the early capital of Bhutan until 1955 AD, and Je Khenpo, the Chief of Abbot still use this place in winter months. Lunch at nearby tourist standard restaurant, and then a tour of Punakha Dzong built by the king Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel around 1638 AD located at the intersection of Mo Chu and Pho Chu Rivers after an interesting time in the country town of Bhutan return back to Thimpu for overnight. Day 18

Drive from Thimphu to Paro – 02 hrs journey

Morning after breakfast drive towards Paro which takes about few hours of good drive, on reaching at Paro transfer to respective hotels, and a hike to Bhutan’s famous Takstang monastery known as the Tigers’ Nest, for people who does not want to walk an option for pony and horse to the top of the high hill. Taktshang or ‘Tiger’s Nest’ often known as Taktshang Pelphung monastery was re constructed by Tsento villagers, in 1998, a fire damaged the main building and its rebuilt again in 2000 AD. After a wonderful day in Paro with tiredness from the up and downhill walk return back to hotel for last overnight stop in Bhutan and the end of this amazing holiday.

Day 19

Depart for respective countries or homeward bound
